Retailers in Northwich have voted by an increased majority in favour of a second five-year term for the town’s Business Improvement District (BID).
77% of businesses who took part in the ballot said yes, the result meaning that Northwich will benefit from over £1 million of private sector funding over the next five years.
BID2 will commence on 1st September 2019 after the current term ends on Saturday 31st August 2019.
Since 2014, the Northwich BID has delivered a range of projects, services and initiatives to help make the town an even better place to work, live and visit.
This work has been instrumental in attracting tens of thousands of additional visitors, consumers and local residents back into Northwich since 2014, whilst simultaneously reaching out to more than 100,000 consumers with positive news and information about the town through social media.
This has included the delivery of events such as the Christmas Extravaganza alongside partners Northwich Town Council, investments into cleanliness and 100 separate floral displays and dedicated Marketing and PR support for BID businesses.
The BID has also helped upskill over 400 staff through training courses which are delivered throughout the year and seen the town receive national recognition from RHS and the Great British High Street Awards.
The yes vote means that the BID can now build on everything that has been achieved since 2014 and start delivering on what is set out in the BID2 proposal document.
Northwich BID Manager Jane Hough was understandably delighted when she received the news and can’t wait to start working on BID2.
“It’s great to know that business within Northwich want to see the town continuing to develop and flourish as much as we do and it’s brilliant to receive their support.
“As a team we have seen Northwich grow and prosper over the last five years through the hard work, investment and determination from the BID and its partners including local businesses, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Northwich Town Council and Groundwork who manage the operations of the BID.
“Thank you to each business that voted and as a BID team we can’t wait to continue working with the town’s fantastic businesses and the local community going forward.”
